POLICING OF TRIESTE

CIVILIAN ORGANISATIONS DISBANDED BRITISH, U.S. AND N.Z. UNITS TAKE OVER (Rec. 10.40 a.m.) London, June 24. Notices have been posted in Trieste announcing that the Allied Military Government has disbanded all civilian police organisations, both Italian and Slovene, says Reuter’s Trieste correspondent. British, American and New Zealand military organisations are taking over the policing of the city until an entirely new civilian force is enlisted and trained. A veilknown Italian Methodist preacher, who was to have addressed the Allied forces to-day, was arrested late last night. The reason for the arrest has not been disclosed.
