DEFENCE CLUB’S SHOOT Twenty-eight members competed at the weekly shoot of the Defence Miniature Rifle Club. The scores werg lower than usual. Top scorer off the rifle was W. Freeth with 77. Two new members, B. L. Armstrong and N. L. Styles, each compiled a creditable 76 off the rifle and nine members reached the standard of 78 with their handicaps. Scores: B. L. Armstrong 76-2 —78, N. ELECTION OF OFFICERS

At the annual general meeting of the club the following officers were elected: Patron, Mr F. H. Sharland; president. Mr K. In wood: vice-presi-dent. Mr W. R. Martyn: club captain, Mr H. G. Day: secretary and handicapper, Mr R. N. Inwood: assistant secretary. Mr R. E. Coote; committee, Messrs R. G. Macdonald. W. Freeth, J. Gagliardi. G. D. McKenzie. J. Street: association delegates. Messrs K. Inwood and W. R. Martyn. The subscription was fixed at 10s for seniors and 5s for juniors, and it was decided that membership should be limited to a maximum of 30. It was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association. The meeting brought forward a recommendation to the committee that the championship should consist of nine shoots with seven to count.
