“FUNNELLED”

THANKS, MR LANGSTONE! The public should thank Mr Frank Langstone. M.P., for a very expressive word. “Funnelled”—that’s the word. Mr Langstone visualises a future when all the public’s financial transactions will be “funnelled” through the State-owned Bank of New Zealand. It would not only have a monopoly of. trading-bank business, but would incorporate the Reserve Bank, the State Fire Government Life, State Advances, and Public Trust departments. So far Mr Langstone has not described other “funnelling” projects that the State Socialisers would like to carry out. They would like to "funnel” everything through giant State monopolies controlled by a power-hungry army of dictators. They would like to “funnel" all the activities of all the people—their jobs, their purchases, and their according to the dictates of all-power-ful State Planners They would like to “funnel” all news and propaganda through State-owned newspapers and radio-services. Even to-day, the Government inflicts on radio listeners a steady stream of “inspired” information about the activities of State Departments. Where is all this going to end? Steady encroachments are being made on free enterprise and personal liberty. The proposed purchase of the Bank of New Zealand is another step towards State control of everything, and State control of everything is dictatorship and serfdom. Nobody who values freedom can ignore this new threat. Write or telegraph your protest to your local Member of Parliament: “Leave the Bank Alone.” *
