EXPERT ON BANKING
MR LEFEAUX’S VISIT Most people value all the enlightment they can obtain on a topic such as banking and finance, which can be very complicated. As in other walks of life so in finance: the expert should be listened to with respect, yet in scarcely any other technical department of community life are there so many amateurs who pose as authorities. Mr Leslie Lefeaux has spent a lifetime in finance. He occupied a responsible position at the Bank of England before coming to New Zealand in 1934 to assume office as first Governor of New Zealand's Reserve Bank. That office he held until 1940, when he retired. Mr Lefeaux is a close student of trends in New Zealand and an analysis 1 of these will form part of the address on finance and banking he is to give at the School of Music, Nelson, on Thursday night next, beginning at 8 o’clock. Mr Lefeaux is expected to arrive m Nelson to-morrow. His visit has been arranged by Nelson businessmen.
