KEEPING LIQUOR FOR SALE Ashburton, June 8. A ease of interest to social clubs was beard today when the secretary and the treasurer of the Ashburton County Club, Incorporated, as well as the club itself, were charged with having kept intoxicating liquor for gale without being authorized to do so. Walter B. Thomas, secretary, and William H. Amoa. treasurer, called by the police, save evidence of the system adopted. The club bought liquor in bulk which was put into an unlocked locker from winch members obtained if. being expected, but not compelled by rule, to place money in a box on the locker. Non-members could not buy liquor. Mr. C. 5?. Thomas, for defendants, sub-, mitted that the members of the County Club had equal rights in the liquor which passed through the hands of the secretary.
