BRITISH AWARDS SEVEN NEW PEERAGES R u gby, June 6. An Honours List on the occasion Of the dissolution of Parliament published to-night, is given up to distinctions gained for political and public services. The names include two Viscounts, Baron Addison, leader of the Labour Party in the House of Lords, and the Rt. Hon. George Lambert, who represented South Molten from 1891 to 1924, and since 1924. There are seven new Peerages—Captain Harold Balfour, Minister Resident in West Africa since 1944: Colonel Sir George Courlhope, member for Rye since 1900; Sir Edward Grigg, Minister Resident in the Middle East since 1944: Sir Douglas Hacking, Mr William Frederick Jackson. Mr David Quibel, and Mr Alexander Walkden. New Privy Councillors include Lord Croft, Mr John James Lawson, Major Milner, Sir Geoffrey Shakespeare, Mr William John Thorne, and Mr Henry Graham White. New baronets include Sir Reginald Bfcir, Mr Alexander Erskine-Hill. Sir Ernest Shepperson, and Sir Robert Workham Smith. There are five new knights, including Mr David Owen Evans, and three Knight Commanders of the British Empire, Wing Commander Archibald James, Captain Peter Drummond, and the Rt. Hon. Ben Smith. Messrs Attlee and Greenwood become Jompanions of Honour.
