IWA ROAD RESIDENTS

NOT IN FAVOUR OF MERGING WITH CITY

Eight residents of Iwa road, Wakapuaka, recently held a meeting to discuss the possibility of merging into the city for the purpose of dealing effectively with the drainage from septic tanks and storm water, stated the Health Inspector, Mr H. Coltman, in a report to the Waimea County Council.

The report continued: “The meeting was unanimous against merging into the city area, being content to remain in the Waimea County. At the same time the residents present were of the opinion that the Waimea County Council should provide a suitable watertable on the eastern side of Iwa road which would convey the stormwater and surplus effluent on to the mudflat at the northern end of the road. This would prevent any offensive matter from the Iwa road area gaining access to the watertable in Milton street.” The report was received.
