GROWTH OF POWER BOARD

COMPARISON WITH TEN YEARS AGO TEN TIMES MORE UNITS SOLD TODAY The expansion of the Waimea Electric Power Board’s operations during the past ten years was illustrated by the board’s engineer, Mr. N. A, Andrews, in his report presented at the annua] meeting today. A comparison of the board’s present position with that of the 193435 year, revealed that, although the number of consumers and revenue per consumer had practically doubled in the decade, the units sold were now ten times greater than in 1934. Ten years ago the board’s revenue from the 515,771 units sold was £10,311 (a revenue per unit of 5.2 d). The board then supplied 1765 consumers, who purchased an average of 290 units each, the revenue per consumer being £6. To-day the board’s annual revenue totalled £40,853, from 5,159,745 units sold—a revenue per unit of 1.9 d. Consumers, supplied by the board to-day totalled 3468, the units sold per consumer averaged 1490 and the annual revenue per consumer was £l2.
