COLLINGWOOD COUNTY

MONTHLY MEETING OF COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the Collingwood County Council was attended by Councillors P. G. Fish, (chairman), A. J. Flowers, S. H. Marsh, J. Richards, A. R. Wigzell, W- D. Lash W. J. Solly.

Accounts totalling £453 19s 4d were passed for payment. The Buller County Council wrote regarding the Collingwood-Karamea road and track, stating that every effort would be made to have work on the road started. It was decided to ask the Buller Council for support and to seek a grant for the immediate repair and maintenance of the track.

The League of Local Bodies asked for further information about the Karamea track.

It was decided to advise Mr. T. F. McHardy that in the opinion of the Public Works Department engineer who had inspected the site neither the Highways Board nor the Council could accept responsibility for the removal of the tree lodged in the stream below Morley’s Creek bridge.

The matter of noxious weeds on frontages throughout the country raised. The engineer was instructed to make an inspection of the roads and give notice to occupiers under the Noxious Weeds Act to clear frontages. The clerk reported that 98 per cent of rates had been collected.
