FIRE AT TABAKOHE
CEMENT COMPANY’S OFFICE DESTROYED The Golden Bay Cement Company’s offices and laboratory at Tarakohe were gutted by fire at one o’clock this morning. People who passed at 12.30 noticed hothing unusual. The night shift saw the lights flickering and thought something must have happened to the electrical equipment. They investigated and found smoke pouring from the office. This is in a separate building from the works where the night shift was working. The emergency hoses were brought out but were ineffective against the fire, which was fanned by a strong breeze, and both building and contents, including the books, were destroyed.
