HEAVY ENEMY LOSSES
OPERATIONS IN BURMA Bombay, April 12. ‘Fourteenth Army troops operating south-east of Meiktila have inflicted heavy losses on the enemy,” states a South-East Asia Command communique. “Pressure on Hlaingdet. eight miles east of Thazi, on the main road east to the Shan States. continues. In the Kyaukpadaung area, 34 miles south of Pakokku, our troops have advanced Heavy bombers with fighter escort yesterday caused many fires in an attack on supply dumps in Rangoon.”
RUSSIAN AWARD TO MRS CHURCHILL
(Rec. 11 a.m.) London, April 12. The Supreme Soviet has awarded the Red Ban.ier of Laoour to Mrs Churchill “for conspicuous services in organising public measures for the collection of funds in Britain for rendering medical assistance to the Red Army." Mrs Churchill is chairman of the Aid to Russia Fund, the secretary of which ’s Miss Mabel Johnson, who has been awarded the Medal of Labour. GOERING REPORTED IN DENMARK London, Apl. 12. The “Daily Mail’s” Stockholm correspondent says Goering is reported to have arrived in Denmark and is staying near Copenhagen.
