MOTOR INTERESTS

AA(N) MONTHLY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Automobile Association (Nelson) was held last evening. Those present were Mr C. M. Rout (president), Dr. S. A. Gibbs. Messrs F. W. Lindup, A. Bensemann. W. R. Grace, W. R. Martyn, W. Gould, B. Bishop, K. S. Farmer, li. Fraser. E. J. Champtaloup. E. A. Bone. B. M. King. C. A. Hunter, F. Smallbone and E. R. Neale (secretary). The chairman welcomed Mr King, the Commissioner of Crown Lands, who had been elected an associate member of the executive. Former Commissioners, he said, had taken a keen interest in the preservation of scenic and beauty spots in the district. Mr King, in reply, said that one of the functions of his department was to see that beauty spots were made available to the public. He was interested in the work of the association and was* pleased to be an associate member of the executive. It was decided to ask the Nelson City Council to erect a post and rail fence on the corner of Washington road and Britannia Heights, on the north-eastern side. The Patrol Officer (Mr N. M. McLaren) reported on the introduction of the school road patrol in Motueka. The opinion was expressed that the signs should be of a larger size.
