FLARE-UP IN NORTH SEA
E-BOATS DRIVEN OFF
London, Apl. 9. “One of the fiercest and closestfought battles of “e light coastal forces flared up at the week-end in the North Sea when the Germans stepped up E-boat activity.” reports a joint Admiralty and Air Ministry communique. “The enemy for two successive nights sent out strong forces of E-boats against Allied convoy routes between England and Europe They were,, on both occasions, intercepted, hotly engaged and driven off. At least three E-boats were sunk and five severely damaged Two of our M.T.B.’s were sunk.”
