NELSON WEST COASTERS
EASTER SOCIAL EVENING A very enjoyable social evening was held in the Labour Hall during the Easter holidays to celebrate the formation of the Nelson West Coasters’ Association. The president, Mr Arthur Cochrane, extended a hearty welcome to the large number of members and 72 West Coast visitors to the city. On behalf of the visitors, Mr G. Harker, of Greymouth, who complimented the West Coasters in Nelson on the formation of the association, wished them every success. Mrs J. Liddle. wife of the vice-presi-dent, assisted by Mrs T. E. Ward, were the hostesses for the evening. All the visitors signed the Visitors’ Book. The duties of M.C. were in the capable hands of Messrs H. Lawry and N, Cowman. Mr Eric Tonge supplied excellent music. During the evening items were given by Mr R. Snow, Mr Rawlins and Mr Taylor. Mr T. E. Ward introduced Mrs E. A. Sinclair, who convened the first meeting to form the association. The evening also marked the 25th anniversary of the wedding of the patron and his wife, Mr and Mrs W. L. Burn, of the “Bush Tavern,” Nelson. Mr Frank Morgan, of Westport, suitably replied to the introduction and spoke very eulogistically of the foresight of Mrs Sinclair in convening such a meeting and he sincerely thanked the association for the invitation to be present and for a most enjoyable evening.
