BURMESE VILLAGES CLEARED
ALLIED GAINS ANNOUNCED (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) Rugby, April 6. “On the 15th Indian Corps front on the north bank of the Taungup River, Chaung Hill features which dominate the town and an airfield have been occupied by our troops who overcame stubborn opposition,” states South-East Asia Headquarters. “On the 14th Army front five more villages have been cleared of the enemy. Strang resistance is being encountered in areas south-east of Kume and 17 miles southeast of Kyaukse.”
