Mrs Horncastle presided over a wellattended meeting of the Tahunanui WomeiVs Institute which opened with the singing ‘of the National Anthem, Institute ode and the repeating of the Aspiration. Qne minute’s silence was observed for world peace and protection. The motto was “Give as well as take and all Is well,” and the roll call: “Impromptu speech.” All members participated and handled their subjects well. The Dominion president’s inspiring letter was read. Mrs Burn presented two members with birthday sprays. The sewing circle is now sewing for the W.W.S.A.’s big effort in November. Miss Wilkens gave a very interesting talk on her different modes of travel while a missionary, and she was accord, ed a vdVy hearty vote of thanks. Competitions resulted: Best flower, Mrs Young 1, Mrs Stewart 2, Mrs Calligan 3. Special bowl polyanthus: Mrs Chamberlain 1, Mrs Young 2, Mrs Burn 3. Sponge: Mrs Harper 1, Mrs Horncastle 2. Rag Doll: Mrs Stewart 1.
