SUNK BY DUTCH SUBMARINE

TWO JAPANESE VESSELS (Rec. 10.10 a.m.) London, Sept. 29 The Dutch Admiralty announced that a Dutch submarine operating off the Dutch East Indies sank two Japanese coastal vessels by gunflre. This submarine in the final stages of the battle for the East Indies early in 1942 sank two Japanese ships in the Gulf of Siam and later made a hazardous escape into the Indian Ocean. DEMAND BY JAPAN FOR U-BOATS London, Sept. 28. The Japanese Ambassador to Berlin Mr Oshima, told Hitler that the Pacific situation was getting o ut of hand. The “New York Times” Stockholm correspondent reporting this said that Oshima stated this was because of the “evermcreasing activity of the United States Navy.” Oshimsf demanded that Germany send large numbers of U-boats to help Japan fight the American navy. The Japanese demand was used as propaganda by Goebbels, who said that the absence of U-boats in European waters was because they had been sent to the Pacific.
