POHARA WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
The August meeting of the Pohara Women's Institute was held in the Pohara Hall recently. Mrs Woodward (vice-president) was in the chair. The roll call, "Where I spent my honeymoon,” was well responded to. An apology for absence was received from the treasurer. Mrs Galloway, who had gone to meet her daughter. Mrs G. Geddis, who recently returned from the Middle East. Mrs O. Miller was elected to the committee in place of Mrs Taylor. It was decided to hold a ball at Tarakohe on 20th September. Competitions resulted: Best flower. Mrs Richmond 1, Mrs Shroff 2 most original tea cosy, Mrs Childerhouse 1, Mrs Shroff 2. A dainty afternoon tea served by Mesdames Macfarlane and Schultz was enjoyed by all. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
