WAKEFIELD BOWLING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING The annual meeting of the Wakefield Bowling Club was held on the green on Saturday. Mr Geo. Wilkens, president. occupied the chair and 18 members were present. The report and balance sheet showed the club’s finances to be in a sound position, with a credit balance of £49 2s 2d. Mr Soppet presented the club with two cups fqr a veterans’ pairs competition “60 years and over.” A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr Soppet. A vote of thanks was also passed to Mrs Geo. Wilkens for the donation of gates, and to Mr A. Smith for a flag pole. The election of officers resulted: President. Mr A. Wilkens; vice-presidents, Messrs N. Soppet and A. Webley; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. T. Eden; auditor. Mr A. Webley; centre delegate, Mr J. T. Eden: general committee, Messrs F. Pinckney, K. G. Hunt, O. C. Eyles, G. Robertson, M. Savidge, B. Reade. and Geo. Wilkens; selection and match committee, Messrs A. Wilkens, N. Soppet. and J. T. Eden; green committee. Messrs N. Soppet. K. Hunt and A. Webley; greenkeeper, Mr A. Wilkens. Winners of last year’s competitions were: Junior singles. A. Wilkens; senior singles. O. C. Eyles; champion pairs, F. Pinckney and N. Soppet (s); champion rink. G. Eden. F, E. Shuttle worth, N. Soppet. O. C Eyles (s).
