HUNDRED YEARS AGO TO-DAY
A NELSON CHRONOLOGY 16th August. 1844: Colonel Wakefield. Mr Spain. Com mlssioner of Land Claims, and Mr Clarke. Protector of Aborigines, arrived here to-day in the brig Deborah. They had been in Otago to complete the purchase of the. district for the New Edinburgh Settlement, and were now come to confirm the purchase df this place —Letter of a Nelson Setler.
