MARTIAL LAW IN SLOVAKIA
PARTISAN ACTIVITIES INCREASE (Rec. 10.20 a.m.) London, Aug. 14. Czechoslovak Government circles in London state that martial law has been proclaimed in th e entire puppet State of Slovakia. Military courts have been established and the death sentence will be imposed upon anyone found guilty of rebellion, murder, robbery, destruction of communications and similar crimes. The reason given for this drastic step by M. Mach, puppet Minister of the Interior. is that recently groups of parachutists have been dropped in northern and eastern Slovakia. That is close to the points already reached by the Red Army. Beaten Germans are streaming into Slovakia through the Carpathians and Slovak partisans have multiplied their activities.
