STRONG CHINESE PURSUIT
RETREATING JAPANESE IN YUNNAN Chungking, July 20. The Chinese, after routing a Japanese column sent to the relief of Pingka in the west Yunnan, are relentlessly pursuing the retreating enemy, says a , Chinese communique. The Chinese have now contacted Japanese rearguards ten miles west of Pingka. Other Chinese units are harassing a withdrawing column nine miles further westward. Pingka is under constant attack with the garrison, greatly weakened by an attempt to break through the encircling Chinese forces. Action on the remainder of the Salween front is limited.
