STOPPAGE AT MINE
RESULT OF UNION DISPUTE
Grcymouth, July 20 The Liverpool State Mine which was scheduled to resume after a two-day stoppage due to overheating in a portion of the mine was idle again to-day as a result of a union dispute. It appears that the men reported for duty as usual and discussions developed on union matters at separate meetings at the bathhouse and pithead. neither group agreeing to confer with the other. Ultimately all the men returned home. The stoppage means a loss daily of 500 lons of coal. The Minister of Mines, the Hon. P. C. Webb, who is now in Greymouth. had no comment to make.—P.A.
