WARM WELCOME
REPATRIATED MEN ARRIVAL AT BELFAST Rugby, May 27 A huge crowd assembled on the Belfast docks, where the liner Gripsholm with repatriated prisoners of war and protected personnel docked just before 5 p.m. to-day. Sh* was daily decorated and the ship received a terrific welcome. When the Governor of Northern Ireland, the Dub*: of Abcrcorn. arrived, the band of the Royal Irish Fusiliers played "God Save the King" and the men aboard ship crowded on the docks and lifeboats and stood at attention. The Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Sir Basil Brooke, was received with applause from ship shore when he made » short speech of welcome. A message from General Eisenhower read: “I wish to extend to you greetings and best wishes on behalf <*t the American armed forces in the European theatre of operations. We wish for you the happy homecoming which you richly deserve.” The official party then wont on board, after which the men disembarked and were served witk a buffet meal.
