Auckland. April M. Five steel ?uj?s have been launched from the yards of Steel Ships Limited. Mechanics Bay. for the use of the : United States Army. These 75ft DieselI engined craft are the first of 15 or--1 dereel by the army, and a further 15 will be built for the United States Navy. These s'urdy boats are for cooperation with armed services tugs. They are powered with six-cylinder .‘l2O horse-power Atlas Imperial engines. driving a single screw. The tugs will be given New Zealand placenames. starting with the letter C." — P.A.
