SUPPLIES OF COAL
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE VIEW Auckland, Feb. 3. During a discussion by the council of the Chamber of Commerce on railway restrictions yesterday, various estimates that they would be in force for one month up to six months were made. Mr W. T. Hornibrook, acting-district traffic manager, said that any cases in volving hardship to the individual would be dealt with bj’ a special officer of the department. He pointed out that there was no restriction on parcels traffic at the present time. Mr J. A. C. Allum: We cannot have this position without someone being hurt, unfortunately. Mr N. B. Spencer tabled a motion asking the Associated Chambers to make an emphatic protest to the Prime Minister against the bungling which had brought about the present, position in regard to coal supplies and asking the Government to take such action as would prevent a recurrence of the trouble. The motion was carried unanimously.
