OFFICIALS RESIGN POLICY DIFFERENCE Wellington, Feb. 4. As a result of the decision recently made by the Wellington Ratepayers’ Association in regard to the Mayoral election, the president, Mr C. J. S. Harcourt. and the chairman of the executive. Mr H. H Miller, have resigned. In a joint statement to the Press today. Messrs Harcourt and Miller stated that the policy of the association in the past, and most emphatically declared before the last two elections, was that the office of Mayor should not be continuously given to one person. It was an honour to be conferred on citizens in rotation for services rendered to (Ate community. Possibly, due to changes in the personnel of the present executive of the Ratepayers’ Association. some of the present members were not conversant with that policy. In the circumstances Messrs Harcourt and Miller felt that they could not continue in office and carry out a policy divergent from their views and the principles upon which they and the association had acted in the past
