GERMAN PRISON CAMPS
INFORMATION FROM INQUIRY OFFICE Wellington, This Day. The Prisoners of War Inquiry Office advises that Stalag VIII A is at Gorlitz, half-way between Breslau and Dresden. The total prisoners now transferred to Germany from Italy is 2108. The total escaped to Switzerland is 81 and 193 are safe with the Allies, leaving 1207 approximately to be accounted • for. A report on Oflag V A at the end of the last year by the International Red Cross shows it to be a good one in a healthy situation and climate. Conversations with repatriated prisoners reveals the need for inclusion in parcels of razor blades, tooth brushes, boot polish, nail and small scrubbing brushes, and soap.
