N.Z. LIBRARIES ASSOCIATION
CONFERENCE IN WANGANUI Wanganui, Jan. 12. Approximately 70 delegates will be attending the New Zealand Libraries Association conference to be held in Wanganui from 15th February to 18th February. The gathering will be definitely opened with a civic reception in the city council chambers on the night of 15th February, when addresses will be given by the mayor, Mr Rogers, Mr J. J. Scott, chairman of the library committee, and Mr F. W. Gilligan. headmaster of Wanganui Collegiate School. The Minister of Education, Mr Mason, will also attend the opening. A noted visitor at the gathering will be Miss Mary Parsons, from the United States, who has recently arrived in this country to establish a library of information. The welcome will be acknowledged by Miss Ellen Melville, A-v'kland. president of the association. A tentative programme has been drawn up and includes a wide range of interest affecting libraries. Sessions will be held in the mornings and afternoons and also at night. The annual meeting of the association will be held on the Friday.
