MINES IN HAURAKI GULF
INACCURATE GERMAN STORY New York, Jan. 10. A German raider mined Hauraki Gulf. Auckland, resulting in the destruction of valuable enemy shipping space, says Berlin radio, quoting the “Voelkischer Beobachter.” The mines were successfully laid at night close to shore, though two English cruisers and an auxiliary cruiser lay in Auckland harbour. No date is given. It is officially stated that the presence of the warships is totally inaccurate,. and the incident referred to in the above message is now years old.
