WAR MATERIAL PRODUCTION
CONTRACTS ALREADY CANCELLED (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) Washington, Jan. 1.1 Senator Truman, chairman of the War Investigating Committee, said production of some items of war material was so great that 8,000,000,000 dollars of Army and Navy contracts had already been cancelled. This was only the beginning. During 1944 almost daily t'-'ere would be further cancellations and the closure of war plans, causing a serious unemployment problem.
