HITLER RECOGNISES TITO AS ADVERSARY
TREATMENT OF PRISONERS
New York, Jan. 10
According to private advice from Berlin, Hitler has recognised Marshal Tito as a belligerent to ensure treatment as prisoners of war for the Germans who fall into the hands of the Partisans in Yugoslavia, says the "New York Times” correspondent in Stockholm. In return the Germans will accord similar status to the captives from Marshal Tito’s ranks, who are*no longer considered franctireurs. In the past the Partisans fought furiously. never surrendering because they knew they would be shot, and thus the Germans suffered heavy losses, which they now hope to lessen. MEDITERRANEAN COMMISSION (Rec. 9.42 a.m.) Rugby, Jan. 10. Dr Miho Krek, former Yugoslav deputy-Premier has been appointed representative on the Mediterranean Commission.
