LESS ABSENTEEISM IN WELLINGTON
Wellington, This Day.
Manufacturers in the Wellington district yesterday reported a big improvement in the attendance of workers, many of them being very pleased with the way their employees have returned to work. One large factory reported almost 100 per cent, of their men at work and between 80 and 90 per cent, of the women, with letters from an appreciable number of the latter who have been unable to return to work because of transport congestion. One employer who arranged a longer holiday period for his employees on the understanding that all of them should return promptly said that it had “worked out pretty well.” “The “habituals” were', of course, still away, he said, but few of the others.
