AT THE PICTURES

Majestic Theatre: Screening to-night, "True to the Army," featuring Judy Canova, Jerry Colonna and Allan Jones, for it includes many laugh provoking situations, gay music and sensational dancing. The story concerns the plight of Judy Canova. a fight-rope walker, who has to hide from gangsters because she happened to see them kill a man. She goes to her sweetheart. Jerry Colonna. a pigeontrainer in a nearby army camp. There Colonna and Allan Jones cut her hair, put a uniform on her and try to pass her off as one of the boys. And then poor Judy is ordered to the camp hospital for a medical examination! The picture is a riot of Colonna quips and Canova clowning.

State: Friday next. Richard Llewellyn's "How Green Was My Valley." In order to satisfy the demands of all who have not yet seen this unforgettable production and of those who wish to see it again, the management will screen "How Green Was My Valley” for a threeday season commencing Friday. The Morgan family is one that everyone knows and loves. The father, mother, sons and daughters have their individual and collective problems to face, and they face them with courage and character. Woven into the background are exquisite Welsh melodies. Sharing the plaudits are Walter Pidgeon, Maureen O’Hara, Anne Lee, Donald Crisp and young Roddy McDowalL

Regent: To-niglit. “Shadows on the Stairs,” a hair-raising film, packed with excitement and an unexpected twist. Frieda Inescourt and Paul Cavanagh have the leading roles in this picture which provides entertainment for every lover of the mystifying type of drama. The second feature shows a nice balance for it brings comedienne Joan Davis, Dick Foran and Fuzzy Knight in a bright comedy that includes dancing, music and rollickings. ______________
