RIVER STEAMERS STRAFED
U.S. FIGHTERS IN CHINA TARGETS ALSO IN BURMA AND INDO-CIIINA (Rec. 11.5 a.m.) Chungking, Jan. 10. “United States fighters strafed six Japanese river steamers and numerous auxiliary craft on the Yangtse and machine-gunned troops on river banks,” says General Stilwell’s communique. “Fighter-bombers raided Sadon, central Burma, starting fires and also set fire to docks, warehouses and railway buildings at Camduong, indoChina. They also strafed railwaycars near Laokay. Chinese-manned Mitchells sank a small cargo ship off the coast of south-east China.”
