CHASE OVER ADRIATIC
MESSEKSCHMITT SHOT DOWN (Rec. 12.50 pm.) London, Jan. 10. The Air Ministry News Service states that Flight-Lieutenant E. W. Schrader, of Wellington, and an Englishman flying Spitfires, shared the destruction of a Messerschmitt 109 recently after a 35 minutes’ chase over the Adriatic. They attacked two Messerschmitts, the first of which dived away from sight. Schrader hit the second and then chased it for thirty miles. It finally jettisoned its hood and disappeared in the sea, leaving a patch of oil on the water Schrader is in a squadron which is attached to the Mediterranean coastal air force which has recently been shooting up Germn transport barracks in- support of Albanian partisans.
