BENJAMIN FRANKLYN (1706-90) made one great contribution to the science of optics. In 1784 he invented bifocal glasses. In his own words, from a letter to friend, he says, "I cannot distinguish a letter, even of large print, but am happy in the invention of double spectacles, which, serving for distant obiects as well as near ones, make my eyes os useful to me as ever they were." May this New Year bring Victory, Peace, and Happiness to us all. HARLEY & SONS MALTSTERS, BREWERS, BOTTLERS & CORDIAL MANUFACTURERS.
