LETTER FROM ARCHBISHOP AVERILL

“WE MUST CONTINUE TO WORK AND PRAY” Archbishop Averill, ex-Primate of New Zealand, in a letter to the Rev. R. W. W. Alexander (who resides at Mapua), says. “Please accept from us both to you both every good wish and blessing for the New Year,” and congratulates him on his good voluntary work for the Church during the past four and a-half years. The Archbishop concludes with these words, “I wish we could see some likelihood of this terrible war coming to an end, but I am afraid it will continue for some time. There is no remedy, but one. and that is enshrined in the Christmas message ‘Glory to God in the Highest and on earth peace to men of goodwill,’ but there can be no goodwill apart from Christ, apart from brotherhood in Him and in the acknowledgment of the Fatherhood of God. Well, we must continue to work and pray each in his own little corner and surely the efforts and prayers of each individual faithful soul is contributing something to that unseen but very real power for good in the world making for righteousness.”
