FEARS EXPRESSED

ALLIED THRUST IN BURMA RUSH OF JAPANESE REINFORCEMENTS (Rec. n. 30 a.m.) London. Oct. 1. The Japanese are rushing large reinforcements to Burma to meet the Allied offensive. Both Tokio and Berlin express fears that big Allied thrusts will soon be made against the Japanese in one or more areas. Reports suggest that the Japanese expect landings in Sumatra and Malaya as well as a thrust at Burma. Berlin radio said to-day: “Information about enemy shipping off Ceylon and the transfer of large numbers of troops to eastern areas make it likely that the Allies intend to launch an attack on Burma in the near future.”
