PRICE OF APPLES

Slightly increased maximum prices for some varieties of apples are permitted under the latest amendment to the apple Price Order. These retail charges are consequent on increases of from 6d to Is 6’d a bushel case in wholesale prices for certain varieties, and they reflect the normal seasonal variations in the price of apples. The maximum retail prices per lb. according to count, are now as follows: Jonathan, 2£d to 3d. Frimley Beauty and Rome Beauty 2sd to 4d, Dougherty 3£d to 4d, Delicious 4d to 4Ad, Golden Delicious 4£d to 5Jd, Winesap 4d to 4id, Granny Smith 3Jd to 4d, Sturmers, 2£d to 3£d, Washington, Lord Wolseley and Ballarat, 2£d to 4d, all other apples 2£d to 3£d.

In the wholesale prices there is an increase of 6d a case for Frimley Beauty, Rome Beauty, and Dougherty, Is a case for Granny Smiths, and Gd to Is 6d a case for Sturmers, with 6d to Is increase for cookers. There is no change for Jonathan or the two sorts of Delicious.
