NOT ENOUGH PLUMBERS

POOR EXAMINATION RESULTS Wellington, June 30. The number of candidates presenting themselves for examination by the Plumbers’ Board of New Zealand and obtaining passes was considerably below that of previous occasions, the examiners’ report states. The examiners expressed the opinion that the candidates offering were insufficient to meet the present requirements of the Dominion for sanitary plumbing. Twenty-six candidates presented themselves for the written part of the examination, and nine passed. Sixteen presented themselves for the practical test and nine passed. The examiners stated that the only part of the test in which efficiency was displayed was lead-pipe bending. The general accuracy of the work was poor, and indicated a lack, of knowledge of working to plan. Three candidates passed in both sections, and the results of the examination, combined with previous passes, entitled II to registration.
