TO-DAY’S WEATHERS FORECAST
COLD WITH HARD FROSTS Wellington, This Day. The indications are for light to moderate and variable winds, weather fair, temperatures cold with hard frosts. The further outlook is for rather changeable conditions with occasional showers developing in the western ranges. The weather this morning greeted July in gentler mood than yesterday’s severe farewell to June. The day was calm and sunny with clear blue sky. The powdery coating of snow which yesterday fell on the bush-cov-ered slopes of the Doubles and on the Fringe had nearly all melted by noon to-day, only a few sections of open ground still remaining as white patches on the hillside. The western ranges and most of the higher peaks in the district were well coated with snow to a low level. The minimum temperature recorded in Nelson last evening was 27 degrees. Yesterday was the tenth day during June when there was no sunshine at all in Nelson.
