SOUTH PACIFIC BASES ALSO BOMBED U.S. NAVY PLANES IN ACTION (Rec. 10.15 a.m.) Rugby, June 29. The bombing created so much smoke that observation was difficult. Another formation attacked Munda, New Georgia Island, and a number of fires was started, some in the centre of an ammunition dump area. Night bombing was carried out over Japanese naval dispositions in the central Solomons area. Results were not observed All the planes returned from these attacks.”—B.O.W.
