HEAVY RAIN ON D’URVILLE ISLAND
The heavy rain experienced on D’Urville Island last week resulted in several landslides, one of which cut off telephone communication with French Pass for several days. The prolonged spell of wet weather on the island is holding up the seasonal work of the sheepfarmers. The observer at the Waiua rain station reports a fall of 5.70 inches in four days last week.
