CADETS CHOSEN
TRAINING IN DIPLOMACY Sydney, June 14, Appointment of diplomatic staff cadets in Australia’s Department of External Affairs has been announced by the Prime Minister, Mr J Curtin, who is acting-Minister of External Atfairs. The ages of the cadets range from 20 to 24 years, and arrangements will be made for their release from the Services as soon as possible. "All the men selected,” Mr Curtin said, "have excellent war records in the Middle East, North Africa, New Guinea, and other battle areas. Most of them have already graduated in arts or in law. “Dr. Evatt, ip his preliminary statement, said that the Commonwealth Government realised the necessity of equipping the department with adequately trained staff to carry out its continually expanding responsibilities. I am of opinion that the scheme wili be fully justified in its results.”
