AUSTRALIAN COASTAL SHIPS

Sydney, June 14. Proposals Cor the construction of ships of a new type, to serve Australia’s inter-State transport needs, are being examined by an expert committee which was set up at a recent conference of shipping authorities, in Canberra. It is understood that the change of shipbuilding policy will mean concentration on the construction of smaller and faster transport vessels than those formerly laid down in Australian shipbuilding yards.
