AWARD TO AUCKLAND SCOUT
WORK IN FIGHTING FIRE Auckland, June 25. The award of the Boy Scout Association’s Certificate of Merit to Air Scout Graham Robertson Horne (Auckland) in recognition of his services in connection with a fire near Frankton railway on 20th January, has been approved by the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, as Chief Scout. The station-master at Frankton, in reporting on Horne’s action said the lad gave the first alarm of the fire, which endangered valuable property, consisting of eight houses, and helped firemen for nearly five hours until the danger was past. Also, later, by prompt action, he prevented a renewed outbreak. —P.A.
