ELECTIONS IN EIRE

VICTORY FOR DE VALERA ALMOST CERTAIN London, June 24. The latest Eire election returns give the Fianna Fail 49 seats; Fine Gael, 19; Labour, 13; Independents, 5; Farmers, 9. All the Ministers were reelected. William Cosgrave, son of Mr W. T. Cosgrave, Leader of the Opposition, was elected in County Dublin. The ‘‘Exchange Telegraph” agency's Dublin correspondent says the question in the new Dail will not be so much the formation of a stable Government because there is little doubt that Mr de Valera will be able to do this, but the formation of a competent Opposition. Mr Cosgrave will be gravely embarrassed by the loss of four of his principal first bench supporters—General Mulcahy, Professor O’Sullivan, Mr Costello and Mr Brennan. Whether Mr de Valera will have a clear majority is not yet certain, but his strength will fall little short of it. It appears to be agreed that he will be able to secure whatever measure of firm support he may need from other groups in the House. —PA TAKE CARE—TAKE “BAXTERS” Very often after a cold or influenza a person who seems fairly well recovered will have a chronic cough that hangs on for weeks. This continuing cough or continuing weakness needs very careful watching. Do not overdo things. Get plenty of rest and reasonable exercise. Baxters Lung Preserver will help to shift a persistent chest cough. If these and other commonsense precautions do not improve your condition call your doctor.

"Baxters” is an ideal remedy for a cold. It cuts the phlegm, reduces inflammation, is very pleasant to take, and quickly soothes away the rawness and hoarseness. "Baxters” will generally put a stop to that irritating night cough. The merit of "Baxters” is proved by its immense popularity for 80 years.

All grocers and chemists sell “Baxters,” prepared solely by Baxters Ltd., Colombo street, Christchurch.
