GIFTS FOR SEAMEN
The Overseas Seaman’s Gift Committee Yvrites from Wellington: "Great pleasure has been given to the members of the Overseas Seamen’s Gift Committee by the arrival in Wellington of a large case of books and magazines packed and sent by a committee of ladies in Nelson, of whom Miss Haldane is the leader (who has given the use of a room for storing and packing). The books, many of them new, are all of modern class, and will gi\-e the seamen many interesting and amusing hours. Some are already bestowed and are oh> their way to other parts of the world, and the rest, which have been carefully sorted at the office of Captain Macindoe. Dominion secretary cf the Merchant Service Guild, lvill not remain long unplaced. The Anchor Company provided the transport from Nelson to Wellington. Sincere thanks are given by the committee for the gifts and for all assistance.”
