INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES
EMERGENCY COMMITTEES OBLIGATIONS AND POWERS Several amendments to the strike and lock-out emergency regulations are notified in the Gazette. The Minister of Labour is now empowered to appoint emergency dispute committees by writing instead of by notice in the Gazette as previously. Failure of any member of a committee to attend a meeting is made an offence against the regulations. A committee is also empowered where found necessary, to summon witnesses and to take evidence on oath. Any witness giving evidence in pursuance of a summons will have the same privileges and immunities as a witness in a Court of Law.
